Walking Alone or with GOD -- Gospel

New Years Resolutions much?

As Chrisitians familiar with our cherished Word of GOD, the Holy Bible, we know man generally just hums along thinking they will go here and there. But this: “For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.” [James 4:15]

If you made resolutions did you acknowledge GOD’s Will in your resolutions? Did you say I plan to live with an eye to healthy choice, GOD willing. Why shouldn’t HE be? That is a great choice to make in honoring the Holy Spirit dwelling within our body/temple.

Resolutions, goals, dreams, everyone has them. Christians are no exception. Yet perhaps reviewing GOD’s perspective on our future new year should be a requisite each time we think upon it.

First off, as Christians who have dedicated our lives to our Lord, Jesus, we prayerfully remember each new day to allow for the following: “O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.” [Jer 10:23] So while we have perhaps embarked upon resolutions did we sincerely first check with the Lord? He is the ONE who does direct our steps.

If we have accepted the loving offer in John 3:16 to believe in Jesus is to not perish but have everlasting life the next step is to acknowledge our ‘nature’ as being sinful. As we tarry in contemplation of the life we have lived with all our mistakes, our sins, everything for which we may or may not feel guilty, we acknowledge our sin. It is  understood we must make a 180 degree about face from them and walk away. We have ‘faith’ the Lord is altogether willing to negotiate our new life choice with and for us is essential.

Here is the step by step Biblical directions: ““8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach):

  • 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
  • 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”Rom 10:8-11 Will not be put to shame. Isn’t that an incredible statement of truth? Who doesn’t want a do over. Actually, belief in Jesus is a new life in HIM not a do over of our old sinful life.

In this behest we are encouraged to allow the Lord to work HIS miracle in your transformation:“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God” [Rom 12:1-2].The greek word for transformed is metamorphoĊ. As you can probably guess the greek word looks alot like our word metamorphosis and that will clue you as to the changes you will begin seeing over time in your new life in Jesus.

As we wrap this up a couple of more guideline scriptures to keep in mind.

“All this I have seen, and there was an applying of my heart to every work that has been done under the sun, [during] the time that man has dominated man to his injury.”  [Ecc 8:9] All of human history supports this GOD inspired verse!

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.” [ Psa 37:23] Just ask the LORD to order your steps. HE is sovereign in your life but being humble and trusting in HIM it is good to ask.

To be clear, this is not written to newly saved individuals only but rather an introductory idea of the progress one makes as they embark upon their everlasting journey with Christ Jesus. It is something all followers of Christ must bear in mind but also be reminded of from time to time. We get busy in our lives and before you know it there is not time nor energy to spend time with our Lord, Savior, Redeemer, and High Priest. HE should be first thing in the morning, throughout your day and last thing before dozing off. Deserving of our trust having given HIS life for us our first and last thoughts are safe in HIS keeping.

NOTICE: If you are feeling inclined or feeling led to want Jesus as your Savior, your leader, your King, your source of Peace and Joy but are feeling woefully inadequate, uninformed on how best to get to know HIM, or find yourself at wit’s end because you believe yourself trapped and in need of GOD, please know Jesus stands ready to welcome you with HIS Holy Spirit. Believe these words: “16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. “—John 3:16

Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, 20 and that He may send Jesus Christ, who was preached to you before, 21 whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began.” – Acts 3:19-20

“Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born [a]again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” 4 Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” 5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.” – John 3:3-8
