What Time Do YOU Have?

“And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand.” -- Rev  22:10

Time. What a concept. What a notion. It can bookmark any moment in a day, week, month, year, epoch, era, etc.

Time changes a perspective. It focuses any and all viewpoints in a snap of an event, incident, change to the norm. For instance, it lets us know we are late for work, school an important appointment, a deadline, ← this one can be particularly deadly. Time can make you aware of  an emerging opportunity and more.

The verse above is a stand alone sentence taken out of context, as it is now, the reader may be confused, may be curious, but if they drew some hope from the scripture because it seems that time is still in play before the book is closed that conclusion/person may be the only one who partially has a clue. BUT, only if they read the entirety of the chapter, particularly the verses that follow verse 10 will they have all the information they need for action/inaction. They may be convicted to change; they may be convicted to stay their current course because they are on the right path, or, they may read it and feel nothing. Perception/perspective--what was meant by the specific greek word for our word ‘time’ [ kairos ] as used in the tenth verse? According to Thayers Greek Lexicon---”the time when things are brought to a crisis, the decisive epoch waited for: so of the time when the Messiah will visibly return from heaven”. ( ttps://www.blueletterbible.org/lexicon/g2540/kjv/tr/0-1/ )

Today, we are quite focused on time management. It became especially popular with the publication of  “First things First” by author Steve Covey in 1994. Over the last nearly 3 decades we've refined some of the concepts while ignoring others. For instance our priorities that occupy the first things category. Mr. Covey was a self noted Christian and the principles in the book and associated paraphernalia always pointed to the supremacy of Christianity especially with time management. Ask yourself, does your time management truly include the time to read and study GOD’s Word? Part of time management is family time if you have family. You can do both at the same time. Study GOD’s Word with your family at a designated time/[Appt] on your calendar. You may add to that by doing your own private study. Be sure to add the time your family decides upon to your calendar. Initially you may designate a time you can expand or reduce depending on the productivity of your study. There should be no exceptions. The only deviation from your time should be real emergencies. Even then, reschedule as soon as possible.

The other thing time is impressing on us during this ‘time’ in culture and history is the need to find ways to share the ‘Gospel’. Wherever and however you can. A suggestion? Make a business card to hand out anywhere you have transactions. They may toss it but if you say something as you hand it to them they may at least give it a good look. Include a way for them to reach you in the event they want to hear and discuss more. You may create an email address specifically for responses to your hand out whatever it is.

An EPOCHAL Time Stamp

In May of 1948 the nation of Israel was reunited to a portion of their GOD appointed promised land. It was the first of many prophetic announcements made millenia ahead of its reality. It is the first historical rebirth of a nation in the same spot by the same name for the same people in all of man’s history. No other nation was driven from its land where it lay fairly barren for nearly two thousand years only to be ‘born again’ so to speak in the exact same spot by the exact same ethnic people. Also included in the various Ezekiel prophecies about Israel was the fact that it would flourish. In the 70+ years since its statehood it has gone from desolate waste to top 10 in its status in the world. Top in agriculture, technology, military might, innovation, health and more. The exports from Israel include fresh vegetables and fruits, and agri-technology plus much more to many nearby countries. While men were used to record this information in the Bible GOD said this would happen and defined a time when it would. We are living in that ‘time’ and there are more things being put in place, also equally prophesied that shall culminate in GOD’s ‘TIME”. Do you have time to learn for yourself what those things are? Read your Bible. The books of Isaiah, Daniel, Ezekiel, Joel, Zechariah, and others, hold the answers.

Dear Reader: IT IS TIME! "You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand."--James 5:8

NOTICE: If you are feeling inclined or feeling led to want Jesus as your Savior, your leader, your King, your source of Peace and Joy but are feeling woefully inadequate, uninformed on how best to get to know HIM, or find yourself at wit’s end because you believe yourself trapped and in need of GOD, please know Jesus stands ready to welcome you with HIS Holy Spirit. Believe these words: “16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. “—John 3:16

“Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, 20 and that He may send Jesus Christ, who was preached to you before, 21 whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began.” – Acts 3:19-20

“Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born [a]again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” 4 Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” 5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.” – John 3:3-8

Seeking to devour --1 Peter 5:8

©Lightwritingmatters 2015

It is increasingly familiar to hear people exclaim 'there seems to be so much 'darkness' around us'. Evil seems to be more and more present in the world. The feeling of being oppressed-loss of long held freedoms taken for granted is creeping into the consciousness of folks. Expectation the world should be filled with cookie cutter inhabitants who have no opinion is not held as popular.

These things, these thoughts and feelings are not limited to folks who believe in Christ, in the Creator, one and the same, or those who believe in GOD. They are also held by people who are more keenly aware of their traditions in family dynamics, in education, in sports, in politics, in history, in future plans, in conversational topics, in social media, in entertainment, in health care. There seems no part of life that has not seen or is currently undergoing change and it is so much change with such rapidity it disrupts the calm, the ease, the status they found timelessly peaceful.

GOD, through HIS HOLY SPIRIT, has given all who read HIS WORD fair notice that there is an adversarial competitor for our lives. That adversary, known as the devil or Satan, has for eons from the first woman studied human nature in all its epochs, all its alleged progress, all its divisions be it ethnicity, belief systems, skepticisms, cynicism, innovation, its intellectual prowess, alleged progressive motion as it steams rolls through centuries and millennia. HE has adapted from direct attack, as in the case of Eve with a question, to the corruption of all things good that has dawned on humankind as the collection of knowledge, wisdom, engineering, progression. There is nothing the devil holds too sacred to corrupt if it means he reaches his various goals.

Yet, though we have this warning it is really packed with much information. Firstly, the devil 'seeks' to devour --- yet, the brother of Jesus said this in his letter to fellow believers: " Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." --James 4:7

You may ask "How do I resist?"

©Lightwritingmatters 2015

Of course, the first step is Prayer. However, you do not know the source of the feeling of being attacked, or you do not know how to get rid of the 'feeling' of darkness you feel is imposing prayer for guidance. Be sure to read GOD'S Word daily as HIS Word is where we find the Holy Spirit helps us to best deal with daily issues. It is a wonderful source of LIGHT.

When you read the Bible you find these sorts of suggestions:

Today Brought to YOU by GOD --Psa 118:24

©Lightwritingmatters 2015

“This is the day which the LORD hath made;
we will rejoice and be glad in it.”
--Psa 118:24

This photo is powerful and symbolic to life. Your day may start as a grey day with a period of 'when it rains it pours'. It may just be a hohum day with no motivation. It may be a day that doesn't seem to hold promise but then a ray of light begins to break the clouds and your spirit notices and gets excited.

Life is not always a photo op as this was. But, it does mirror at times the natural changes that occur in any day to the circumstances directly affecting you at the moment.

But the bottom line, whatever the real day brings, the actual 24 hours or the moment you are distracted by the complications of the day, it was provided to you by the Creator of all things, the Sovereign GOD, our FATHER in Heaven. At some point in a troubled or perplexing day perhaps you can find the time to 'Rejoice and be glad in it'. The one way to surely remove the moment of gloom is to give thanks in prayer to GOD for the day of life and trust that HE knows what you need before ever you become aware of it. [Matt 6:8]

Bruised Reed and Jesus Matt 12.20

©Lightwritingmatters 2015

Jesus, our Lord, quoted Isa 42:3 as HE and HIS disciples left a confrontation with Pharisees who conspired to kill HIM. HE quoted the prophet Isaiah who wrote about Jesus in the 42nd chapter of Isaiah. The point of the decision to leave the situation the Pharisees [the legal team for the Jews] had created was to preclude anything happening to Jesus at that particular moment. HE knew when HIS time would be to voluntarily go with the authorities and it was not at this point in HIS mininstry. In fact, Isaiah's prophecy had much to say that Jesus was yet to do and because of this prophecy Jesus avoided interruption to HIS ministry.

The actual prophecy, though partially quoted here, is a wonderful compassionate statement about our Redeemer. "

“Behold my servant, whom I uphold,

my chosen, in whom my soul delights;

I have put my Spirit upon him;

he will bring forth justice to the nations.

He will not cry aloud or lift up his voice,

or make it heard in the street;

a bruised reed he will not break,

and a faintly burning wick he will not quench;

he will faithfully bring forth justice.He will not grow faint or be discouraged

till he has established justice in the earth;

Our redeemer lives! HE is compassionate. During this time when darkness seems to be contaminating everything in life -- sometimes seeping into our own lives -- we have faith and confidence in our LORD HIS gentle and empathetic nature will be our place of safety.

Has HE risen in YOUR HEART

©Lightwritingmatters 2015

“Then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead?

He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, “saying, ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.’ ”-Luke 24:5-7

As we observe the nineteen hundred eighty eighth time of this momentous, life saving and eternally destined statement and the occasion of the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, let us be mindful of the entirety of the week's events. I cannot put it better than the sermons presented here:

Please watch with diligence and attention to the many details of the week’s events being presented in each talk.

We must consider this statement: “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”--John 14:6 [Changes to emphasis on verse with color and size made by author] As we consider Jesus as being the Truth should Christians not now seek to correct a long standing ‘custom’ of celebrating the ‘Passion’ week, not based on custom -- but based on Biblical accuracy. In as much as the Bible set the ‘date’ for the first ever passover on Nisan 14 of the Hebrew calendar, as given them by God who named the months, set the dates and had celebrations, observances to plant those dates in perpetuity, should we not obediently reconcile our practices accordingly?

Passover is Nisan 14-- was pinpointed in place until this very day from way back in Egypt when the Jews were enslaved. Just before the momentous and significant day of Passover, we back up to Nisan 10, this is the date in Egypt that Jews were given the command to go and select a lamb and bring it into their home to keep until Passover. The lamb would be a figurative likeness to Jesus, whose cousin, John, hailed “...Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”--John 1:29
©Lightwritingmatters 2015

Christians are faced with a calendar problem when the Jews of the world observe Nisan 14 on one day, like in 2021, yet Christians adopt the whole week from ‘Palm Sunday’ through the Passover to ‘Resurrection Sunday’ appellate [given instead of the pagan word Easter] a week later. They refer to it as the ‘Passion Week’. But looking at the origins of this whole week and it’s placement on the calendar it is tied directly to the practice of ‘Lent’. The Passion week is then allegedly to culminate in Easter on the 6 week from the beginning of Lent.

As a Christian, I do not and never have observed Lent. I am of the belief we should be holding the dates our Lord observed when HE observed them, which in the case of Passover was and still is Nisan 14. That is the anchor date that should frame any consideration of the Passion week by the events that took place historically tied to his fulfilling various aspects of prophecies and festivals from the first time they were designated by GOD to HIS people, the Jews.

This year, 2021, Passover fell a week before the ‘Passion week’ began. It was wonderful listening to the sermons explaining each day and its significance in the life and fulfillment of Christ as HE proceeded through HIS final week on earth as HE appeared for the 33 years of HIS life. The problem? When the Christians got to ‘Good Friday’ [Passover] they were a week late.

Would it not be more important for the Christian to truly celebrate the Passion Week by making sure they put the Nisan 10 ride on the back of Donkey into Jerusalem through the Passover, Nisan 14, then on to Resurrection Day [some observe as First Fruits] regardless of the Day of the week so long as the week was observed the way it was by Christ?

For example, Nisan 14, 2023 will fall on a Wednesday. So, Nisan 10 [Palm Sunday] would fall on Saturday and Resurrection day would fall on Friday. Of course, the day begins after sundown for the Jewish calendar so these days are the evening of ...

It would take a concerted effort and would fly in the face of customs regarding the gregorian calendar; And Paul did say we should not fuss about days and seasons as one being more important than another,  but for Christians who wish to honor Christ in HIS week of passion and sacrifice it would stand to reason -- minus an edict to do so Biblically for Christians, it should at least be observed and taught about in it’s right time --- all in the same week as it actually happened in that last week of Christ’s life on earth in HIS man/God body. Not as a ‘custom’ tied to ancient fiddling with ‘religious’ days and rituals etc. Jesus came to preach liberty to the captives...

Jesus quoted “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;”  -- Isa 61:1

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.”--Luke 4:8-10

Those who are free in Jesus, please, let us be free in all things including captive to customs that devalue the importance of the events of the ‘passion’ week in Jesus last Passover week. As HE committed them to history -- not to custom.

Do YOU examine the Scriptures DAILY? -- Acts 17:11

Theme Text

 Do YOU examine the Scriptures DAILY? -- Acts 17:11

The questions is a valid one. If you want to learn and be proficient at anything it requires ardent study of the subject. Study is a multi faceted application. Reading, practical experience, mentoring/apprenticeship and absolute implementation of all the foregoing to name but a few. Once it is part of your daily routing then the next level of study is to increase precision by deep diving into the words, the culture at the time the words were written, not so much the pop culture -- but the way of life culture. Study, how the originial application was beneficial. Speaking about your Daily Bible Study.

There are a number of ways to layout a well founded study routine. Some use existing yearly Bible reading programs. They are good, but it is designed to get you through the entire Bible in a year leaving little time to actually study. Another is to choose a book in the Bible that may hold your interest and then consider reading that book in portions allowing you time to study the portion you read

As in all things, PRAYER is essential, It helps you to organize your reading, to highlight the point you believe was made in the material that spoke to your spirit and heart/mind. It helps you to consider that portion long enough that you have long lasting benefit. One beneifit is being so familiar with the Bible you know what each book is about, what each chapter in each book is about. Why?

At some point in the future we may be without the internet; Bible apps may be unavailable; even the possession of the Bible may be forbidden. What then? Memory. Your's and those with whom you mingle will be able then to continue to encourage and edify each other because of the effort, routine and blessing now of EXAMINING THE SCRIPTURES DAILY!

A deep dive into this topical verse up soon.
